Welcome Home Campers
What a great opening day we had here at Southwoods on Sunday! We are so happy to have a full house here on camp again and we have wasted no time jumping back into the action! We celebrated our first evening together as we do every Sunday, with an all camp campfire! We sang along to our favorite wacky camp songs, laughed along to skits performed by the awesome Group Leaders and the MOO Fighters...I mean our Head Counselors, as they ‘mooed’ to a classic camp song, Lean On Me. We cheered on our friends as they received their long awaited 3 year t-shirts, 5 year fleeces, 8 year blankets, and 10 year sweatshirts. We wrapped up a perfect opening day at Southwoods with the first all camp canteen with our friends. It’s great to be back home!
We have been keeping the energy up and wasting no time jumping into all of the fun filled activities all around camp. Since we have arrived to camp, we have all made our way down to the Waterfront for some fun in the sun and skill checks on the beach. The Activity Fair at the Sports Pavilion showcased all of our highly skilled Activity Specialists and allowed us to discover just all that Southwoods has to offer this summer. There are 60 different activities to chose from, spread all over the 100 acres of camp from pines to the lake, and we cannot wait to explore them all!
This week our Upper Senior Men and Women made the trek to the top of one the Adirondack’s highest peaks, Cascade Mountain and we could not be more proud of them! You can feel the anticipation in the air all around camp because this Thursday is...DAY OF AWESOME!! We will have an action packed day full of Trivia in the Rec Hall, Inflatables up at the Soccer Pitch, Slip’n Slide at the Baseball field overlooking the Adirondack Park, and Cookout at the Beach! What a day, and it doesn't end there!! We will be cramming even more awesome into the day with a Color Dance and All Camp Canteen to top off a perfect day here at Southwoods.
We could not have asked for a better way to get camp started then these first few days, and we look forward to an awe-inspiring summer with all of you. Welcome Home Campers!
